Anthony has extensive experience advising private clients, institutions and international law firms on British Virgin Islands law issues. Anthony specializes in all aspects of corporate and commercial law including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, trusts, estates, offshore investment funds, regulatory services and insolvency.

Professional Background

Anthony is a former partner of Maples and Calder and prior to that was a partner with the firm of Smith-Hughes, Raworth & Mckenzie, which subsequently merged with Maples and Calder.

Anthony has served on several committees responsible for reviewing relevant corporate and trust legislation of the British Virgin Islands. He has over the years given presentations on British Virgin Islands corporate and trust law to a wide international audience. He is a member and former secretary of the British Virgin Islands branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Antony has specialist expertise in all aspects of investment fund and private equity fund law in addition to extensive experience in corporate and commercial law advising on a broad range of financing and banking transactions including joint ventures, mergers and acquisition, equity, debt financing, regulatory services as well as general corporate matters.

Professional Background

Antony joined the firm as a partner in 2010 and has over twelve years experience in the British Virgin Islands having previously worked with Maples and Calder and before that Smith-Hughes Raworth & Mckenzie. Antony is recommended in the 2010 edition of the PLC Investment Funds Yearbook. Prior to his career as a lawyer Antony was a pilot in the Royal Air Force.

Sofia Iturrino - Associate

Expertise

Sofía advises on a wide range of corporate, banking and finance transactions and provides support in relation to all aspects of corporate governance and administration. She also advises on the formation and ongoing regulatory requirements of investment and private equity funds. Sofía oversees requesting the mandatory due diligence required by the BVI Business Companies Act and regulations.

Professional Background

Sofía joined the firm in 2016 after previously working as an associate in Monserrate Simonet & Gierbolini, a boutique law firm in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and a tax planning and adviser intern in Zaragoza & Alvarado LLC, a local tax firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
